Profile

Born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, acting was a part of Rebecca Lynn Rae's life from day one, with impromptu performances at the Empire Mall, embarrassing her mother to no end. Rebecca’s joy was participating in school and community theatre and even began a drama program at her church just so she could perform more and share her gift with others. She ran the FBF Talent Show for years, writing, directing and acting in almost every skit to raise money for church camp. Saturday Night Live was Rebecca’s inspiration and she knew that one day she would be in New York on stage in Studio 8H. Rebecca moved to New York shortly after graduating from Lincoln Senior High School in 2002 and her dream of being a professional actor became a reality when she was accepted into the Studio Program at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy on 73rd and Broadway. After being trained by some of the most prestigious acting teachers in the industry, Rebecca went on to have roles in student and independent films and television and has performed on Off Off Broadway and Off Broadway.

Rebecca is currently training with the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre in improv and sketch comedy. Through UCB, she became a member of the improv troupe Orphan Tycoon, performing all around New York. Orphan Tycoon took second place last year in the Del Close Marathon Independent Group Competition and got to perform for hundreds of people. She also is now a part of Cherub Improv, a volunteer group that performs shows for free around New York at hospitals, nursing homes and outreach programs to give back to the community. Rebecca recently had the amazing opportunity to meet with Lorne Michaels, thanks to the fantastical Brian Dennehy, which led to an audition for Saturday Night Live last season on that very stage she had dreamt about as a child. Current cast member of SNL, Bobby Moynihan, was a private coach for both Orphan Tycoon and Rebecca before he joined the show. Rebecca continues to strive to be the best actor and performer she can possibly be and will not quit until all of her goals are reached.

"The most influential people in my life are my parents because of the endless love and support they provide, and my best friend Allison, who has always believed in me, even when I didn't believe in myself."

"One of the things that my parents have taught me is never listen to other people's expectations. You should live your own life and live up to your own expectations, and those are the only things I really care about."
